Tea, cocoa, and coffee products could be infused with THC or CBD soon, reports Science World Report.
The cannabis company, BrewBudz, is currently working on caffeine infused with cannabis for a new line of their “high quality” products. They want to create a 100 percent compost-ready Keurig-useable pod that is environmentally friendly, but also contains a good helping of cannabis in the offering.
Coffee was Inevitable for the Cannabis Edible Industry
The industry for edible cannabis has been consistently growing since a large number of states have legalized the use of marijuana recreationally. The pods from BrewBudz will be compatible with most Keurig brewers, says Green Rush Daily.
BrewBudz is based out of San Diego, California, and they are working on making cannabis more accessible to consumers. The biggest way they have found is through pot-infused drinks. Most of their work is on hot beverages, which is why they are creating a full line of coffee, cocoa and tea with cannabis.
The coffee is by far their most popular offering. They have specifically designed it for potency, ease, and sustainability.
Each pod is individually packaged and designed specifically to work in a Keurig machine. The dosages are very carefully measured out to ensure potency. The recreational-use pods will have 10 milligrams each of THC, while the medical marijuana pods will have 25 to 50 milligrams of CBD.
All the pods will feature biodegradable packaging, meaning they naturally breakdown instead of filling landfills. Those that have a compost pile or bin can toss their pod into it without worry too.
When Will Cannabis Coffee Become a Reality?
Per BrewBudz, their product is ready for release, and they will start selling it at dispensaries in the six states that allow them to do so. They plan on them slowly showing up at retail locations between now and March 2017. With all stores that can sell cannabis having them by March at the latest.
It is not just coffee that will be released from the company, though. However, the coffee line will feature regular, decaf, French vanilla, and hazelnut.
For tea products, they plan to launch a black tea Breakfast version, green tea, and a nighttime chamomile formula. For chocolate, they will feature a decadent dark.
Why Cannabis Coffee?
The reason behind this creation was that marijuana for most is a routine, recreational thing and so is coffee. Therefore, it only made sense to combine to two into one. Whether it was recreational or medicinal, they know that people create a habit with their cannabis use.
Soon BrewBudz plans to release a full line of soda and beer that also have THC and CBD. Basically, they are working to offer as many options as possible to those that are searching for edible cannabis.
